Understanding the concept of UCS or user co-ordinate system is very inportant in 3d drawing. In simple terms, UCS can simply be likened into your drawing board. If you put a paper on your drawing board, your UCS is the plane or the inclination of your drawing board hence when you draw a line on that paper, it is similar to drawing a line in your current UCS. If you then recline your drawing board to a certain degree, your UCS will likewise be reclined accordingly.
In using autocad 3d, you can create complex 3d objects by simply manipulating your UCS. If for example you want to draw a pitch roof, then you must change the orintation of your UCS such that it shoudl be on the same plane as the inclination of the pitch roof.
