My name is Ariel Bilangel. I first used Autocad drafting software in 1995 when it was still in DOS format, release 12. I was then working at Meralco Industrial Engineering Services Corporation (MIESCOR), a civil consulting and construction company in Manila, Philippines.
MIESCOR specializes in providing detailed engineering design and project management services. My drafting work in this company consisted of preparing plans and details for their reinforced concrete and steel structures projects.
In 2001 I moved to UK where I lived for nearly ten years.
From June 2001 to August 2006, I worked at BBP Engineers (previously known as Bedford Eccles Partnership), a structural and civil consulting firm based in Brighton, England.
BBP Engineers uses the current release version of Auto Cad. Drafting works using Auto Cad program took big percentage of my workload in the company. Typical drawings I did for them were structural and civil plans and details. We produced our drawings by cleaning up architects' drawings and super imposing them to other drawings necessary to produce our desired output, such as survey drawings, and then convert them into structural or civil drawings. On some occasions we start drawing from scratch using survey notes and engineering design calculations.
In August 2006 I joined HOP Consulting Engineers. also a structural and civil consulting firm in Hove, England. My drafting works with them were very similar to what I did in BB Engineers, though in larger scale.
In October 2008 I left HOP and joined GTA Civils. A civil consulting engineers in Burgess Hill, England. My drafting works are comparable with those in HOP and BPB Engineers but without the structural drawings. I stayed with this company until I moved to Australia in February 2009.
Besides formal employment I also used Autocad software for my personal projects. On these occasions I produced architectural drawings such as building floor plans, elevations and sections apart from civil and structural drawings.
